Polymer Clay Creations: Sculpt, Shape & Shine! Unleash your inner artist in this hands-on polymer clay class designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike! Polymer clay is a versatile, colorful modeling material that hardens when baked, making it perfect for crafting everything from miniature sculptures and jewelry to home décor and whimsical figurines. In this class, you'll learn: 🧤 Basic techniques: conditioning, shaping, blending, and texturing clay 🎨 Color mixing and marbling effects 🔥 Baking and finishing tips for durable, professional-looking pieces 💍 How to turn your creations into wearable art or decorative keepsakes Whether you're looking to explore a new hobby, make personalized gifts, or enjoy a relaxing, creative outlet, this class offers a welcoming space to play with color, form, and imagination. No prior experience needed—bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little messy! If you decide you want to purchase your own kit from Manola, they are $60. Syllabus Welcome and Introduction Workshop agenda and time allocations Polymer Clay Basics Clay - conditioning, baking Terms - sheeted clay, burnish, snakes Tools - roller, tissue blade, cutters, paper, index cards, sharp tool Supplies - cutters, leafing Demonstration ‘Clayfetti’ – use cheese grater or lemon zester to create clay confetti with various colors and then burnish to sheeted clay Terrazzo – cut or rip pieces of clay into small pieces, place on clay and burnish Clay dots – roll small pieces of clay into balls and place on clay, burnish with roller Marbelizing - 2 or more colors of clay, rolled in snakes and twist and roll to create effect then use roller to flatten Texture rollers – roll on sheeted clay for textured effect Sparkly Leafing – place on sheeted clay, rub on, and use roller to create crackle effect Create Time! Choose your colors and prepare by conditioning and then rolling flat After you have created your slab, pick your desired cutters, cut out shapes, and make holes Clean up the edges of your pieces and place them on an index card on a silver tray to bake Baking Final call for baking to ensure everything can bake and cool down to add findings This is a great time to have a break! Finishing Touches Attach findings Wrap-up & Show-off Take photos!
