Fire Harvest Bowl - Signature Series

Class Description

Create a warm, glowing bowl inspired by the rich colors of an autumn harvest. Using layers of golden yellow, amber, caramel, and earthy brown glass, students will design an 8-inch decorative fused glass bowl with their own unique pattern and personality. During this hands-on class, students will learn: How to safely score, cut, and shape glass How to position and layer glass to create an intentional design The differences between transparent, opalescent, and specialty glasses How different colors and types of glass interact when fired Basic fused-glass design and construction techniques How a flat fused-glass piece is transformed into a bowl through the slumping process No previous glass experience is necessary. Two Kiln Firings Included Students create their bowls during class and leave them at the studio for kiln firing. Firing #1: The glass is fused together to create the finished flat design. Firing #2: The fused piece is fired again over a mold to gently slump it into its final bowl shape. The finished 8-inch decorative bowl will be available for pickup after firing.
