Class Description
Level: Beginner–Intermediate Duration: 4 hours. First class is 3 hours, the second class is 1 hour. Instructor: Brenda Class Description: Celebrate the beauty of fall by learning how to transform real autumn leaves into stunning glass art using Castalot refractory material and powdered glass. In this hands-on workshop, students will explore the process of creating delicate glass leaf castings that capture the intricate textures and shapes of nature. You’ll learn how to: Prepare natural leaves for casting Mix and apply Castalot to create detailed molds Safely burn out organic material to leave a clean cavity Use powdered glass to fill molds with color and texture Fire your piece in a kiln to achieve a beautiful glass leaf First class Cast a leaf you bring- freshly picked. Fall leaves Sift powdered glass into a prepared mold to learn how to fill molds. Understand the firing schedule What You’ll Take Home: Each student will leave with at least one finished glass leaf and the skills to continue experimenting with nature-inspired casting at home or at our public studio. All materials provided—no prior glass experience required. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring your creativity!
