201F - Intermediate Stained Glass
Take your next step in learning stained glass, with textured glass and patina application.
Class Description
This class is for students familiar with the process of making stained glass using the foil method, taught in the 100F class. Students taking this class will construct a panel window using Frank Lloyd Wright inspired designs and will be instructed on how to handle textured glass, apply patina, and frame their window in zinc came. Students will leave this class with their own 9.5 x 6.5" panel window which can be suspended or displayed in a stand. Safety: This class involves the cutting of pieces of glass, using a soldering iron that heats to ~400 degrees Celsius, and using lead solder. Protective equipment in the form of masks and safety glasses are provided for the class. If you bring any food or drink it must be stored and sealed during the class. Due to the presence of lead in the workshop, it is strongly advised that pregnant women do not attend this class. This class is a prerequisite for 300 level stained glass classes, and is expected to last 3 and a half hours.
